James Lee & Andrew Coates, the two founding members of Black Cab.
I would like to take a minute and feature a band from Melbourne, Australia that I really like and admire.
Some would describe their genre as drone-based and/or electronica but as with all great bands they not only go far outside the box of their stated genres but really are not in any box or genre except their own. They have released three critically acclaimed albums since 2004.

Their first album in 2004 is an amazing bold and brash concept album based on the infamous Altamont Concert. Not many artists could tackle this subject matter and come out the other end with a great achievement but this band did it.

Jesus East the second album in 2006 saw the band building on the sound of the previous album but also branching out into more un-chartered territory such as kraut-rock and electronica while still keeping the great drum sound and even adding slide guitar as times.

In 2009, Black Cab put out their 3rd album, a concept record called Call Signs evoking the atmosphere of the former totalitarian state of East Germany set to a soundtrack of post-punk and atmospheric electronics.
