I literally would have never written a song if it wasn't for this record. In 1980, a music major at Los Angeles City College, one Sunday my friends literally dragged me to a free concert this guy did in a Hollywood amphitheater. I didn't want to go cause I had never heard of him. About 8 of us all sat in this one row and Michael came out on stage holding a Budweiser and joking around with the crowd. I liked him right away and he did a rockin' set that included most of the songs on this album. Later that week I picked up guitar and pen and wrote my first set of 14 songs. I am forever indebted to Michael and we have spoke a few times over the years, he's a great guy. Here's a vinyl rip of the album and here's the info. Vinyl rip!

HAVE A TERRIFIC THURSDAY!

Are these two actually smiling at each other??
In today's entry of "From The Black Crowes Archives" I got a show here that I was in attendance at and got the cd-r in a trade a couple weeks later. Very unique set list on this one as they open up with "Exit" a song hardly played, the same with Cypress Tree. Set list is here. Link. Please note this is not an official release, it's an A- audience capture that a fan recorded. It's suitable for trading.

HAVE A GREAT ONE!

In early 2010 after five years of very strong musical output literally putting out 3 albums a year for five years straight, I found myself at a musical crossroads. But much more important than that I found myself at a "life" crossroads. I turned inwards, went into deep self-discovery, holing myself up in my house and studio for several months, I was hardly eating, lost a lot of weight, you may know the story. It was in this state that I came up with the idea to re-work some old material. I didn't want to do just another remix album like so many out there. Turning the songs into something completely new became an objective so I not only remixed but literally added new parts and in a lot of cases I added new instrumental sections, some as codas, some inserted in places the song didn't really call for. This experiment of creating, editing, and remixing landed up becoming the Redefining The Remix album and is one of my most proudest achievements. The record reflects not only what happened to me musically but what also happened to my soul in the process.
