Dread Zeppelin's third album found the band making some very unusual changes, most in an unexpected way. While laying down initial tracks Tort-Elvis their lead singer was outssted due to illness and lead singers were auditioned but at the last minute their regular bass player decided to take over the lead vocal duties and to add more confusion changed his name from Put-Mon to Gary B.I.B.B. Instead of doing their usual reggae-style Zep covers they then started doing 70's disco covers. As if this wasn't strange enough, they then decided to record the album at their home studio but bring in a mobile unit and at one point the two brothers from Sparks, Russell and Ron Mael were going to bring their mobile but that fell through. Screaming Jay Hawkins was brought in for two songs. The album was eventually put together in three different places, recording at home, overdubbing at another studio and doing final mixes at yet another studio. The end result is a nicely produced love it or hate it type of album but it still contains the Dread Zep quirkiness that makes them so fun. IRS, their label, dropped them after these release because of poor sales.
