Last year Steve Hackett released the follow-up to 1996's Genesis Revisited album and the 16 year wait was well worth it. Another album that most people I know have never heard of, it already came and went to little fanfare besides the tour that accompanied it. But this is not just another hastily put together covers album to cash in on material fans may be yearning to hear new versions of. It is truly a masterful and artistic achievement. Hackett has breathed fresh life into these songs and the singers he uses (several, mostly uncredited) do no injustice to Peter Gabriel's original versions. Hackett's arrangements are stunning. After all, this is not three-chord stuff we're talking about here, these are widely progressive pieces. Thumbs way up for this album and please feel free to check out the sample song below and then visit this Amazon link or your favorite retailer and purchase his album. He only put 16 years into it.
