Several times during listening to this album for the first time and now the second, I couldn't help but think that it might have benefited Adam to put this record out with a different name. (Paul Westerberg sometimes puts out his harder rock under Grandpaboy, etc etc) I say that because if this had come out with an unrecognizable name, then probably everyone would have said who is this new artist, his stuff is great! Too many are comparing this to old Adam Ant and even worse trying to deem it a "comeback" album whatever the heck that means in the first place.

And no this is not the Adam Ant we all know and love as far as production and immediately catchy tunes. In fact, really the only recognizable aspect of any kind of Adam Ant is the quirky and enthusiastic back-up vocals with hollers, yells, and strange harmonies. Instead we have a record of 17 very diverse songs with lots of genres being explored within rock, punk, techno, and pop- the first song Cool Zombie even has slide guitar blues rock, something I don't remember hearing from him before. The subject matters of the songs are also nicely mixed but sticking mostly to the lustful and sensual topics we've come to expect from an artist whose music old and new has always been first and foremost, very sexy.

But overall this is a great listen especially if you like creative art and expression. As most all the reviews both professional and amateur mention, this album is all over the place (but so was Exile On Main Street and the White Album) and has a schizo feel to it which I personally find appealing. The artist put it out there and should be commended for not putting out a formula crap polished album which basically translates to a producer's record which by the way is probably 95% of the stuff that comes out these days anyways. One Amazon reviewer said Ant clearly doesn't know which way to turn. I didn't know that artists were in a position to have to make such choices, they put out art, one person is turned on, another is repulsed. I enjoy following this record on this turn and that turn but I mean really, it could have been an album by someone else.
