I first saw Darby Gould when I was lucky enough to be in attendance at the House Of Blues in 1995 for a landmark reunion concert of Airplane and Starship that became the Deep Space/Virgin Sky album. I had very good floor position near the stage and I was right in line with both her and Paul. I didn't know who she was and thought she was Grace Slick's daughter since she looked a lot like her and sang so great. There have been a few incarnations of Starship of course but my favorite years remain the ones with her. She has an incredible voice, great stage presence and let's not forget she's also damn hot! I'm still nuts about her after all these years, back in '07 I wrote her a fan letter and she responded with a real cool note (see below.) Here's a great show from that time period, a soundboard from 1992 recorded at The Catalyst club in Santa Cruz, CA. The show is in two sets and features Papa John Creach as well who comes up a couple times and does a few tunes with his violin. I don't have a set list but they do lots of songs including the old stuff like Wooden Ships, We Can Be Together, Ride The Tiger, Volunteers, plus their new stuff at the time like Dark Ages, I'm On Fire and Women Who Fly.
